The map was created through the web interface WUDAPT - World Urban Data Access Portal Tools (Demuzere et al., 2021). The classification of the LCZ system comprises 17 zone types at the local scale (100 m to 10.000 m). Each type is unique in its combination of surface structure, cover, and human activity. The LCZ system is designed primarily for urban heat island researchers, but it has derivative uses for city planners, landscape ecologists, and global climate change investigators. The WUDAPT generator uses a random forest model to classify the study area using LCZ classification, producing LCZ maps with a resolution of 100 m.
